A First Class Learning Environment

At Radyr we continually strive to provide our students with the best possible learning environment which allows them to work independently as well as under the guidance of our specialist teachers.

The main buildings are arranged around a central quadrangle and surrounded by extensive playing fields and hard areas including ten tennis courts and a red gra hockey pitch. An additonal block, built in 1997, provides staff and office accommodation as well as housing the Music Department.

We took possession of our Sports Hall and Fitness Suite in May 2004 and an eight classroom teaching block was completed in 2006. A continuing programme of refurbishment is improving the quality of the learning environment year by year.

In 2015, we opened our new Sixth Form centre which is fully equipped with over 50 networked PC's, extensive workspace, a careers library and a student common room.

Specialist facilities include:

  • Eleven Science Laboratories (five recently refurbished);

  • Seven Technology rooms;

  • Four Art Rooms;

  • Seven Computer Suites;

  • A Music Department complete with practice rooms and recording studio;

  • Drama Studio/Theatre;

  • Gymnasium;

  • Sports Hall and Fitness Suite;

  • Heated Indoor Swimming Pool;

  • Astro-turf.

  • A Designated Sixth Form Block consisting of a large study room with iCT facilities, two additional computer rooms and a common room
